Privacy Policy

Effective as of Mon Oct 12 2026 00:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)

This privacy policy applies to the GPS Speedometer app for mobile devices, together with the related online services operated by Şafak Doğan Dökme (collectively, the "Application"). Şafak Doğan Dökme is hereby referred to as the "Service Provider". The Application is offered as a Freemium service and is intended for use "AS IS".

Information Collection and Use

The Application does not ask you to create an account with an email address, password, or phone number. When you first open it, the Application creates a random identifier for your installation. That identifier is not linked to your name, email address, phone number, or advertising identifier. It is used to link your purchases to you and to keep your requests to the Service Provider's server separate from other people's. The Application also creates a random secret on your device that proves later requests come from the same installation; the Service Provider's server stores only a one-way hash of it.

The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include information such as:

  • The identifier described above
  • Your mobile operating system and its version, the Application's version, and the language and region settings of your device
  • Your settings in the Application, such as the speed and distance units, the gauge you chose, and the Application's language
  • Product usage events — for example completing onboarding, finishing a drive (with its distance, duration, top and average speed, and driving score), timing a drag run, opening a feature, viewing a subscription offer, or making a purchase — along with your subscription status
  • On iOS, the App Store's ad attribution token, sent once per installation. The Service Provider's server uses it to ask Apple which Apple Ads campaign, if any, led to the installation, keeps that answer, and does not keep the token
  • Information about errors in the Application: the type of error, the first line of its description with numbers and email addresses removed, and the place in the Application's code where it happened. It is used only to find and fix problems

The Application does not collect your device model, your device name, or your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and it does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. Your device's IP address is necessarily received when it connects to the Service Provider's server, but the server does not store it with your usage data.

Version 2.0 and later of the Application send usage data only to the Service Provider's own server. Earlier versions sent it to Mixpanel (see Third Party Access).

Location

The Application uses your device's precise location to work out your speed, to record your drives, and to show your position and route on the map. If you allow it, the Application keeps doing this while your screen is locked or the Application is in the background, so the speedometer keeps reading and a drive keeps recording.

Your location, your drives, and your routes are stored only on your device. The Service Provider does not receive them. Location information leaves your device only in these cases:

  • Automatic speed limits (Pro): while this feature is on and you are moving, the Application sends your last few location points (up to 15, at most about once a minute) to Mapbox, which matches them to the road and returns its speed limit. These requests do not include your identifier
  • Speed camera alerts (Pro): while this feature is on, the Application asks the Service Provider's server for the speed cameras in a map area of roughly 30–40 km around you. The request does not include your identifier, and the area is not logged. The server gets the camera locations from OpenStreetMap's public servers for that area, without any information about you
  • Maps: the map is drawn by the Google Maps SDK, which receives the map tiles requested for the area shown
  • Exports and shares you choose to make: see below

Leaderboards

Taking part in the leaderboards is optional. If you join, the Application sends the nickname and the country you choose to the Service Provider's server. Your nickname, your country, and your results are shown publicly to everyone who uses the Application, together with the dates of your results. Your location and your routes are never shared.

Once you have joined, the Application sends the results that count for the boards:

  • For a drive of at least 1 km: its distance, duration, top and average speed, start and end times, and the number of location points recorded (not the points themselves)
  • For a drag run (Pro): the times, trap speeds and top speed it measured, whether rollout was used, the measured road slope, the measurement mode, and the run's speed readings over time (ten readings per second). The speed readings are used to check that a result is genuine and to review results that are reported; they are not shown to other users

Even if you have not joined, the Application may send a result you have not posted to the server, only to show where it would rank; it is not saved to the leaderboards.

Reporting and blocking. You can report another driver's nickname as offensive, or one of their results as suspicious. A report stores your identifier, the reported driver, the reason, and the nickname as it was when you reported it. A nickname reported by several people is hidden on every board until its owner picks a new one, and the Service Provider reviews reports and may hide a nickname, a result, or a driver. You can also block a driver: the block is kept only on your device.

You can leave the leaderboards at any time in the Application (Leaderboard → your profile → Leave the leaderboard). Leaving deletes your nickname, your country, and every result you posted from the Service Provider's server at once.

Invites

The Application creates an invite code for your installation. If you share it and a friend enters it in the Application within 7 days of installing, you both receive 3 days of Pro after your friend's first drive of at least 1 km. To know when that happens, the Service Provider's server looks at the friend's usage events. The Service Provider keeps a record of each code redeemed and each reward given, so that a reward is not claimed twice. Rewards are granted through RevenueCat.

Information kept only on your device

Your drives and routes, your drag runs, your settings, the drivers you blocked, and the speed limit and camera alerts you receive are stored only on your device. Uninstalling the Application removes them.

Exports and shares you choose to make

When you share a drive, a drag run, or your leaderboard rank, the Application creates an image on your device and passes it to the destination you choose, such as Instagram, your photo library, or the system share sheet. When you export a drive as a GPX or CSV file (Pro), the file contains the drive's full route, and it goes only where you send it.

Support messages

If you contact the Service Provider from the Application, your email app opens with a message that includes your identifier, so the Service Provider can find your data. You can also email contact@apprexy.com directly.

The Application does not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to process your data or provide features.

Permissions

The Application asks for the following permissions. You can change them at any time in your device's Settings:

  • Location (while using the Application, and optionally always) — to measure your speed, record your drives, and show the map, including while your screen is locked
  • Motion & Fitness — to read the motion sensors and the barometer during a drag run, so the time is measured precisely and a downhill run is not counted as a clean time. This data stays on your device
  • Notifications — for speed limit and speed camera alerts while the Application is in the background. These notifications are created on your device
  • Photo Library (add only) — to save the images you choose to save

Cookies and tracking technologies

The Application and its third-party SDKs use device storage, SDKs, and similar technologies to support functionality, analytics, and service delivery. The Application does not use these technologies to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data held by the Service Provider. To exercise these rights, contact the Service Provider at contact@apprexy.com. Because the Application does not ask for your name or email address, please send your request from the contact option in the Application's Settings, which includes your identifier, so the Service Provider can locate your data. You can delete your leaderboard data yourself at any time by leaving the leaderboards.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. The Service Provider does not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, contact the Service Provider at contact@apprexy.com.

Third Party Access

The Service Provider shares information with the service providers listed below only as needed to operate the Application and its features. These providers process the information on the Service Provider's behalf. The Service Provider does not sell your personal information.

Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policy about handling data. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used by the Application:

  • Hetzner Online — hosting in Germany for the Service Provider's server, its database, and encrypted backups of the database
  • RevenueCat — subscription and purchase processing, and the Pro days given for invites. RevenueCat receives your identifier and your purchase information
  • Mapbox — automatic speed limits, from the location points described above
  • Google Maps — the map in the Application
  • Mixpanel — product analytics in versions of the Application before 2.0, on Mixpanel's EU data residency servers
  • Apple — payments for subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store, and Apple answers the ad attribution request described above. The Service Provider does not receive your payment card details

The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:

  • as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
  • when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
  • with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information the Service Provider discloses to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.

International Data Transfers

The Service Provider's server, database, and backups are located in the European Union (Hetzner, Germany). Some of the Service Provider's third-party service providers, such as RevenueCat, Mapbox, and Google, may process personal data in countries outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, the Service Provider will use appropriate mechanisms, such as:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
  • Adequacy decisions or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms
  • Your consent, where required and legally permitted

Opt-Out Rights

You can turn off location, motion, notification, and photo library access at any time in your device's Settings; features that need them will stop working or ask again. You can turn off automatic speed limits and speed camera alerts in the Application's Settings, and you can leave the leaderboards at any time.

To object to the use of your usage data, contact the Service Provider at contact@apprexy.com with your identifier.

You can also stop all further collection of information by uninstalling the Application. Uninstalling does not automatically delete information that has already been sent to the Service Provider or to third parties.

Data Retention Policy

The Service Provider retains personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Usage events: deleted automatically after 400 days
  • Your usage profile (your identifier, settings, subscription status, and the Apple Ads campaign that led to the installation, if any): retained for as long as you use the Application, or until you ask for deletion
  • Leaderboard profile and results: retained until you leave the leaderboards, or until you ask for deletion
  • Reports you make, and reports about you: retained until the Service Provider has reviewed them, or until you ask for deletion
  • Invite codes, redemptions, and rewards: your invite code is retained until you ask for deletion; the record of each code redeemed and each reward given is retained to prevent the same reward from being claimed twice
  • Server logs: records of requests to the Service Provider's server, which may include your identifier, are kept for up to 30 days for security and troubleshooting
  • Backups: encrypted backups of the database are kept for about five weeks and then overwritten
  • Aggregated and anonymized data: retained indefinitely as it no longer identifies you
  • Data required for legal compliance: retained as long as required by applicable law

To have the data held by the Service Provider deleted, contact the Service Provider from the contact option in the Application's Settings, or at contact@apprexy.com with your identifier. The Service Provider will respond in a reasonable time. Deletion removes your usage events, your usage profile, your leaderboard profile and results, the reports you made, your invite code, and your installation's secret. Data still present in backups is removed as those backups are overwritten.

Children

The Application is not directed to children under the age of 13, and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Joining the leaderboards publishes a nickname, so children should not join without a parent or guardian. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided personal information through the Application, please contact the Service Provider (contact@apprexy.com) and that information will be deleted.

Security

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains. For example, all communication between the Application and the Service Provider's server is encrypted, requests that write data must come from the installation that created it, and database backups are encrypted.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-10-12.

Your Consent

By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.

Contact Us

If you have any questions regarding privacy while using the Application, or have questions about the practices, please contact the Service Provider via email at contact@apprexy.com.
